Introduction to the location of the Kuruwita Pradesheeya Sabha or the  Local Government 

Kuruwita Local Government authoritative area is located and surrounded by the boundary of the Nuwara Eliya District including the peaks of samanala Mountain ranges in the North - East, the Ayagama Pradesheeya Sabha in the south - west, the Rathnapura Pradesheeya Sabha in the South - East and the Eheliyagoda Pradesheeya Sabha in the North west.

Rathnapura is the main administrative district and the electorate of the of the Kuruwita Local Government authoritative area in which there are two Divisional Secretariats called Kuruwita and Kiriella, 56 Grama Niladari Division and sub - local government office. It comprises of 263.10 square k.ms in extent.

The main occupation of the people in this area descended from multi-ethnic and multi-religious background is Agriculture and gemming. The elevation towards West is on the 500 ft. line of cross section and from the town og Kuruwita up to Adams Peak 1000 ft. in height. Here, the annual rainfall is 2500 m.m - 3500 m.m expanding everywhere.
